James’ parents know the heartbreak of overworking while being underpaid. Being uneducated has limited them in their choice of work.
James’s father is a shifting cultivator. He burns down sections of the jungle to prepare the land for crops. This is an extremely dangerous and physically demanding way to make a living and barely provides a meager income that keeps them in poverty.
James’ parents have enrolled James in our school, knowing an education will make a big difference for their son. They pray for a sponsor so James can continue his education and not be limited to being a shifting cultivator as so many are in their village.
