Joel lives in the remote village of Parvachawm in the beautiful hills of Northeast India, in the State of Manipur, with his parents and sister. Joel's father is a teacher in the school that Joel attends. Though he is employed with the school, Joel's father does not earn enough to keep the family from living in poverty. Joel is currently attending school, where he is learning to Read and Write not only in his native language, but in English as well. English is taught and spoken as a second language in his village.
