Lalmuana is from a family of five children. He has one brother, and three sisters. They live in the village of Khanpui, which is located in the state of Mizoram. His father is a shifting cultivator. A shifting cultivator burns down a section of hillside jungle to use the soil, and then plants a crop. After the harvest, the ground loses its fertility and they move on to a new area where they start the process again. Not only is this a very poor way to support a family, it is also ruining the environment. Lalmuana is enrolled in our school in faith, praying for a sponsor so he can continue his education. He is a good student and wants to be a designer when he grows up. God is on the move in India. It is a season of change in that region. We want to break the cycle of poverty and help this generation rise above their present circumstances.
