Zothangliana is a member of the Hmar tribe living in the remote village of Vaitin in the hills of Northeast India. His parents work as cultivators. In the hill area, people make shifting jhums at different places every year. They clear the jungle to sow the seeds of the crop they will harvest in November and what they reap from their crop, they take it to the local market to sell. Their income depends on how well their crops sell. Zothangliana has one brother and a sister. He is currently in Kindergarten. He enjoys learning rhymes, singing and playing games.
